Tenure-Track Position for Reinforcement Learning (solely for female applicants)

The Institute for Machine Learning at the Faculty of Engineering and Natural Sciences announces the opening for a Tenure-Track position in Reinforcement Learning at the Johannes Kepler University Linz for female candidates holding a Doctorate/PhD degree.

In accordance with the collective agreement for employees and the Austrian Universities Act, the Institute for Machine Learning at the Faculty of Engineering and Natural Sciences announces the opening for a full-time (40h/week), six-year Tenure-Track position at the Johannes Kepler University Linz. The university wishes to increase the proportion of academic female faculty and therefore, this position is open exclusively for female applicants in support of the Development Plan. The earliest planned start date for the future position holder is October 1, 2025.

The position is dedicated to highly qualified junior researchers with a Doctorate/PhD and corresponding expertise in the field of “Reinforcement Learning”. The position offers the possibility of concluding a qualification agreement that – upon the successful completion of the requirements as outlined in the agreement – may result in a permanent position as Associate Professor (§ 99 Sec. 5 and 6 of the Austrian Universities Act).

The successful candidate should have an outstanding academic track record after completing the Doctorate/PhD, demonstrating excellence in academic publishing, and possessing expertise in teaching university-level courses. Ideally, the candidate has already demonstrated her ability to successfully acquire third-party funding.

The minimum salary in accordance with the collective agreement of 2025 is EUR 69,060.60 per year based on full-time employment. The annual minimum salary under the collective agreement will be raised on EUR 81,314.80 upon concluding a qualification agreement.
